Aiming higher
Aiming Higher for Disabled Children

The ‘Aiming High for disabled Children' programme was able to offer the Hampshire Children's Services the funds to establish The ‘Skills for Work with Disabled Children' (SWDC) project.
This scheme helps workers and volunteers in the independent and voluntary sector to get the training, qualifications, vital skills and knowledge they need to work with or care for disabled children and young people. Treloar's has been working in partnership with ‘the alliance' on this project since March 2009.
Our project brief includes:
· Analysing training currently available and training needs for the workforce in Hampshire
· Mapping of the training provision currently in place
· Developing a database of training providers for Hampshire
· Organising individual training events throughout Hampshire
(Subjects include the ‘Autistic Spectrum', ‘Autism and Challenging Behaviour', ‘Sibling Support', ‘Learning Difficulties and Mental Health' and ‘Physical Disabilities & ‘Practical Manual Handling Solutions')
· Supporting training providers to develop and expand their services
· Considering training programme accreditation marks to help service users gauge quality
We work with, and support individual organisations to improve their induction and staff training programmes. We also support HCC Children's Services with workforce development and implementation strategy for Hampshire.
