Treloar's talent on show
8 November 2011
Thousands of people are set to view artwork by Treloar’s students as a display is launched in a top town centre location.
MP for East Hampshire, Damian Hinds, was invited to Sainsbury’s store in Drayman’s Way, Alton, to join students from Treloar College at the official unveiling of the art and textile work, designed to depict Paralympic sports.
The display will remain on show for thousands of shoppers to enjoy in the run up to the Paralympic Games in London next year.
Speaking at the launch of the artwork, which shoppers can see in the foyer of the store, Damian said: “This is a great moment for me to unveil these pieces to go on display in Alton. Treloar’s has such amazing talent for sport and, from what we can see here today, also art.”
He added: “I have visited Treloar’s on a number of occasions and I think this display in Sainsbury’s showcases to the community the talent that the pupils have.”
Treloar’s Principal, Amanda Quincey, said
“We are lucky to have very gifted students at Treloar’s, who create excellent pieces of art, this display provides a great opportunity to showcase these skills to the wider community. We would like to thank Sainsbury’s for giving our students this chance to share their talents with the local community and Damian Hinds for launching the event.”
