"It’s like a big family here"

Families at Treloars School

At Treloar’s, we care for, educate and support young people, in partnership with many others. We enthuse others to support the work we do. And we care passionately about our students’ welfare and future plans. We keep in regular contact with parents and carers. We are also always keen to catch up with former students after they leave.

Keeping in touch with parents and carers

Parents and carers play an important role in helping children achieve their goals. At Treloar’s we involve them as much as possible. Good communication is vital in supporting young people in education, and we regularly keep parents informed of developments concerning their sons and daughters.

Opportunities for discussion include:

  • Annual Review meetings and Parents’ Days every term
  • Updated Individual Education Plans (IEPs), which are sent home every term
  • Student reports, which are sent home once a year before the Annual Review meeting
  • Home-School communication books

A parent or guardian also sits on our School governing body. Staff are happy to hold a special meeting if there is a particular need or change of circumstances.

We also encourage our students to keep in contact with their families via phone or email and can help them with this, if appropriate.
