Independence Training Flats
Learning to live independently

Learning about living on your own, and the skills you’ll need when you leave College and home, is an important goal for many students.
Cooking, cleaning, shopping, budgeting, negotiating care support and time management, (because you still need to fit in your studying and social life!), are all essential skills, whether you do them yourself or direct others to do them for you.
We have eight independent living flats for final year students in Campbell Court, on the edge of our campus. We also have another four flats that students can live in for shorter periods to develop their skills.
Students find being able to live in one of these flats an invaluable experience. Sometimes it can help you realise how much you still need to learn, which is a really important lesson in itself, but staff are always on hand to help you fill in the gaps. Some students, however, find they know more than they realised.
