Who can apply for support from an outreach worker?

Our disability outreach workers are available to work with disabled people aged between 18 and 65 who live, work or study in Lewisham or north west Surrey. You may be in work or not able to work, living with your parents or living independently.

How much help is on offer?Young men playing football

Our disability outreach worker will agree a realistic goal with you that will take around 12 weeks to achieve. Both you and our outreach worker will agree a plan to make this goal happen. It will include tasks for each of you – and some deadlines.

What sort of goals can you help me achieve?

We can help you achieve specific, short-term goals involving housing and accommodation; social and leisure activities; employment, voluntary work and training. For example, you might want help with:

•    checking out social opportunities
•    finding a gym
•    looking at housing options
•    exploring work opportunities – voluntary and paid
•    transport and practical issues
•    meeting people
•    joining a day or evening class.

Is 12 weeks long enough to make a difference?

Admittedly, 12 weeks isn’t a very long time. But every journey is made up of small steps and we are keen to help you get started. If things go well and you decide you'd like to sign up for support for another, different goal – talk to us.

Where will I meet my outreach worker?

We are based at Lewisham College (the Lewisham Way campus) and Woking College. But our outreach workers can meet you elsewhere as long as it suits you both.

How do I apply?

You can apply direct, or ask someone to make a referral on your behalf. If you live in Lewisham contact Claire Major on 020 8692 0352 ext 4062 or 07921 971746.   If you live in north west Surrey (Woking, Guildford and surroundings areas) contact Craig Holder on 01483 227443 or 07921 971745.
