Junior School
Helping our children get off to the best possible start
We take children from the age of seven in our Junior School, and they are there for their first four years with us.
Classes in the Junior School are small, usually with between 6 to 8 children. The form teachers teach most lessons, with subject specialists for music, sport, religious education and science. Learning Support Assistants also work with the children, either on their own or in groups, to help them become as independent as possible.
‘Teaching in Years 3-6 is very good’
(Ofsted 2004)
In 2004 Ofsted gave our Junior School a glowing report. They observed that:
“pupils in Years 3 – 6, with a complex range of needs, make a good start due to very effective teaching.”
In many ways the Junior School has its own identity – the younger children live and study together. However, all the students eat together in our dining room at the heart of the School and the Juniors also join in celebrations and some assemblies with the Seniors.
