Counselling
We look after students’ emotional health, too
At Treloar’s, we believe the emotional health of our students is equally as important as their physical health and academic achievement. Happy students are more likely to adopt a positive attitude towards their education, and to do well academically and socially.
All of our staff offer pastoral support for students, and we also offer counselling for those who need it. Sometimes a young person may need extra help with certain issues. These could be to do with anything, from coping with their disability to growing up, friendships or sexuality issues.
- A BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) senior counsellor leads our counselling team.
- We also have five part-time counsellors, including a GP with specialist knowledge in child and adolescent mental health.
- Counsellors work in confidence, but involve our Chaplain, educational psychologist, health centre staff and other colleagues where appropriate.
