Medical
Looking after your health
Whatever your disability, our priority is to help you make the most of your time at Treloar’s. Providing excellent medical facilities is an integral part of this.
Our team of 21 medical and nursing staff aims to offer first class care, while also encouraging students to take as much responsibility for their own health as appropriate.
Healthcare round the clock
The on-site Health Centre is always open during term time, and a registered nurse is on duty 24 hours a day.
Our medical officer and assistant medical officers are also local GPs with long experience of working with young adults with a range of complex, and sometimes rare, conditions.
Most students register at the College Health Centre. You can see your local GP at home in the holidays, as a temporary resident if necessary.
Our physiotherapists also provide 24-hour on-call cover. If you feel unwell at College, a nurse will either come over to see you, wherever you are or suggest that you pop into the Centre.
Visiting specialists and hospital appointments
As well as our own medical team, we can arrange for you to see the visiting Orthopaedic Consultant or visit other specialists, including paediatricians, maxillo-facial consultants, psychiatrists, cardiologists and urologists. We can also liaise with someone from home to attend the clinic with you.
Regular check-ups
You can also arrange regular check-ups through the Health Centre if you need to see a dental hygienist, optician or podiatrist for example.
Vaccination and drugs
Our nursing staff can carry out vaccinations and immunisations. They can also dispense routine medication if you prefer not to take responsibility for this.
