Ramsbury and Treloar’s

For the last 30 years the village of Ramsbury has held fundraising coffee mornings in aid of Treloar’s. The simple coffee morning has become a significant event at the Ramsbury Memorial Hall, where much of the village turns out in support.

Doris Dennison organised the event for many years before passing the baton to Ethel Hutchings and Ellin Osmond, who have been the driving force for the last 10 years. Everyone does their best to help, like supporter Paul New with his successful plant stand and Rosalie Winter, who prepares delicious cakes for all the visitors. The day is also well supported by local schools: Chilton Foliate, Ramsbury and St Michael’s in Aldbourne. Last year this event gave us the magnificent sum of £3000.

Easysearch is a free & amazingly easy way to generate cash donations for Treloar's.

Every time you search the web Easysearch gives 50% of the fees paid by advertising sponsors to your chosen cause. This means that making just 10 searches a day through Easysearch instead of Google could generate around £20 a year for Treloar's.

Simply go to www.easysearch.org.uk. At the bottom of the Easysearch screen is the question "Who would you like to raise funds for?" Simply type Treloar Trust (not Treloar's) in the box below the question and click on the Search button. You will be asked to choose Treloar Trust. Click on it and the Treloar's logo will appear to confirm you are supporting Treloar Trust.

Set this as your home page then start searching as normal!

Thank you for raising money for Treloar's!

Photography student from Treloar College wins City & Guilds competition

Treloar College student Sam Scargill wins competition and the chance to have his work exhibited.

Sam Scargill has recently won a City & Guilds photography competition to have his work displayed at a London gallery. After being judged by three photography experts, Sam beat over 300 applicants to take first prize.

Now in its second year, the competition is held for those that have been working towards a City & Guilds Photo Imaging qualification. There are three levels of qualification, and Sam – a student at Treloar’s was victorious in the level one category for his photograph entitled ‘Hang in there’.

In celebration of his skills, Sam’s work will now be displayed in an exhibition of the winners and runners up at the Morley Gallery in London. The exhibition will run from 21 – 26 July and it is guaranteed to be an inspiring and uplifting event that fans of art and photography alike can enjoy. A private view will also be held on 22 July for the winners, runners up, tutors and invited guests.

Tracey Bridger, Sam’s tutor at Treloar’s, told us how proud she was of him: "I was thrilled to hear that Sam had come in first place in the competition - Sam was really shocked! It's been a real boost in his confidence and he should be very proud of what he has achieved. Sam was quite nervous when he first joined us in Photography - a bit unsure of himself and his ability – but being good at Photography is making him a more confident and happier individual. I’m really looking forward to seeing him develop his black and white photography when he starts his darkroom printing unit."

Speaking on his success, Sam said: “I didn't believe my tutor when she first told me that I had won! When it sunk in, I felt excited and very proud of the work that I had done. I wanted to tell my mum straight away.”

Kerry Mclennan-Mckenzie, Photo Imaging Product Manager at City & Guilds stated: “this year’s competition has had a lot of entries, and we’ve been extremely impressed at the high calibre of work. It has been a great opportunity for learners like Sam to use their imagination and unleash their creative talent, and I think that visitors to the exhibition will be amazed and inspired by the photography.”

Moulin Rouge Ball

In May of this year cancan girls, red feathers and a French feel all combined to create the Treloar’s Moulin Rouge Ball in a themed marquee at Lord Wandsworth College in Hampshire.

150 guests attended the Ball on a beautiful summer evening where they were greeted with glasses of champagne before sitting down to a sumptuous 3 course meal.

Following the meal, local character Toby Kilner conducted the auction which included prizes such as a 12 seater box at Twickenham for the England vs Australia match in November and a break in a fantastic holiday home in the Turks and Caicos Islands, bringing in over £11,000.

The evening ended with dancing to the Co-Stars Band.
