Residential Care

Residential Houses

We have 5 residential houses at College and all are furnished with the latest equipment to enable you to take an increasing amount of responsibility for your own health and hygiene and to become as independent as possible.  Everyone in our care is encouraged to develop into mature individuals who value their independence and have the freedom to make responsible choices

Practical and Emotional Support

We understand that for many of you, coming to a College such as Treloar's will be the first time living away from home and meeting your emotional needs is as important as meeting your physical requirements.

Each residential house has its own care manager and dedicated care co-ordinators who are responsible for the day-to-day welfare of students/  We employ over 150 care staff, including waking night staff. They are on hand to provide any practical or emotional support you may need.

Due to some students' disabilities, they may been a need for assistance with intimate physical care.  Our training is of the highest standard and the utmost pains and taken to respect students' dignity, privacy and self-esteem at all times.  This ethos of dignity and respect has been recognised by the Commision for Quality in Care (CQC), who have assessed us being "excellent".

Becoming Independent

Learning about living on your own and the skills you'll need when you leave College and home, is an important goal for many students.

In addition to our 5 houses, we have 8 independence flats for final year students in Campbell Court on the edge of our campus.  We also have another 4 flats which students can live in for shorter periods to develop their skills.

Cooking, cleaning, shopping, budgeting, directing and negotiating care support and time management are all essential skills, whether you do them for yourself or direct others to do them for you.  Students find being able to live in one of our independence flats an invaluable experience in developing these skills.
