Damian Hinds MP was given a grilling on hot political topics when he visited Treloar School last week (4 November).

Under invitation of student Paul from Year 11, the East Hampshire representative at Westminister was quizzed on subjects including current affairs, tuition fees, the summer riots, our membership of the EU – and even the behaviour of MPs during Prime Minister’s Question Time!

Damian also talked the students through a ‘typical’ week for him in his life as an MP and discussed with the Year 11 pupils about dropping the voting age to 16.

GCSE Citizenship teacher, Helen Dignum, said: “The group learnt a lot from the visit, and it has nicely enriched our current work on democracy and voting. I think it may have fired a few students up to become more involved in youth politics too!

"We are very grateful to Damien Hinds for taking the time to visit us and for answering the questions with such thought and detail.”
