Their future in your hands

Vision Treloar's was a £20 million project to create one nationally recognised centre of expertise for young people with severe and complex disabilities on a single campus. This project has now been completed and it is intended that the new centre will also become a hub for outreach services to benefit a wider community of young disabled people.

Treloar's is passionate about ensuring these young people have a future. Life for those with disabilities doesn't have to be about living off of benefits, living in a care home, or playing no active role in society.

Vision Treloar's will ensure students with complex disabilities can maximise their full potential, realise their ambitions and achieve real independence. And for the organisation it will ensure economic sustainability in challenging financial times and beyond.

Why Vision Treloar's?

Planning driven by student needs
Treloar's fervently believes that all young people should be offered the support, flexibility, choice and preparation for the future they deserve. Vision Treloar's provides modern campus facilities for students to create a better world for young people with severe and complex needs. In contrast  to Treloar's has not received any statutory funding for the capital build in the way mainstream schools and colleges do.

Government Policy
Regular changes in government policy on education and statutory funding are sometimes confusing for young disabled people. Vision Treloar's enables us to provide purpose-built classrooms and improved facilities in a safer and more secure landscaped environment. These young people are an inspiration to us all but their ability to learn is dependent on others. We can only succeed with your support.

Treloar's must respond to the changing need
More young people with disabilities are now being educated in mainstream. For some this is the right answer, for others a specialist provider like Treloar's has to be found. Sadly this often happens after the younger child has experienced a poor education, lack of friends and an inability to be accepted or to fully participate. Treloar's is then challenged with restoring and growing the young person's self confidence.

All young people deserve an equal opportunity to thrive
Students at Treloar's have the same hopes and aspirations as other young people but have many difficult mountains to climb. With your help we can help them achieve their goals no matter how big or small they may seem to us.

Treloar's has a track record of successfully delivering major building projects, such as the Vision Treloar's project. Prior to this, a new £4.5 million hall of residence at Treloar College opened to students in September 2008.

Student Benefits

Treloar's offers so much more than just a formal education. A young person with a physical disability is no different from any other young person; they want to get a job, have a place they can call home and to have friends and a social life.

  • Treloar's addresses the practical barriers of educating children and young people with severe disabilities.
  • Before they can even begin to learn, they must be well and comfortable, which often requires considerable medical and therapeutic input.
  • A holistic approach ensures that the needs of the whole child can be met on site including therapy, sport , counselling, medical care and education.
  • Consistently graded 'outstanding' by Ofsted and the Commission for Quality in Care (CQC), Treloar School is a specialist special school in the physical and sensory category and Treloar College was the first specialist provider to be awarded Beacon status.

Vision Treloar's aims to offer greater opportunities for young people with disabilities both on site in the wider community.

  • Assisting students to set up a longer term programme to enable them to take control of their lives and to ensure their right to a life beyond Treloar's.
  • Increased opportunities for each student's own entrepreneurial skills and ideas to be developed and supported while practising being in control of their life.
  • Less dependence on their communities for support, which will in turn break down some of the barriers of misunderstanding.
  • Able to do more for themselves and make a positive contribution to their own community with the increased respect and understanding of people with disabilities among the non-disabled community.

We really do appreciate your help to enable this dream to become a reality for so many young people with physical disabilities. With your support we can continue this vital work for another 100 years.

"Treloar's is unique in the way it support its students whilst helping them strive for personal independence. I owe a lot of my confidence and success to Treloar's and it holds special memories for me".
