The sensory garden at Treloar’s new campus in Holybourne, Alton, has been brought to life thanks to some kind Barclays Corporate employees.

Ten employees from the Governance and Control Team at Barclays Corporate Basingstoke, based at Churchill Plaza in the town, rolled up their sleeves and pulled on their waterproof boots to transform the area into an enjoyable environment for the young disabled students at Treloar’s.

The brand-new sensory garden, which is designed to appeal to all five senses, will be an open outdoor space where younger students can relax, socialise and enjoy nature in a safe, secure and stimulating environment.

Plants and shrubs of varying colours, textures and sizes as well as a range of aromatic herbs, were planted by the team – some of whom had visited Treloar’s for a similar volunteering initiative last year and planted a delightful wall of flowers for students and staff to enjoy.

Jon Colville, Head of Community and Events at Treloar’s said: “It was great to meet the team from Barclays Corporate. They were all enthusiastic and couldn’t wait to get stuck into the project. The difference they have made to the sensory garden is incredible and our students will reap the benefit.”
