World of Work
An Introduction to the World of Work

If you want to go into a job after you leave College, Treloar’s is a great place to prepare for it. We offer a wide range of work-related learning activities to reflect students’ different abilities, interests and goals.
Our World of Work team and tutors can guide you towards opportunities for you to:
- Hear about the world of work and specific jobs from people who do them
- Develop office, administration and retail skills within the College
- Take part in work-related activities elsewhere in Treloar Trust and with local employers
- Get support from Treloar’s when you get a job, in partnership with your Home Connexions advisor
All of our learners have the right to participate in World of Work experiences with employers.
When you get your work placement we’ll help make sure it matches your interests and skills. You’ll also get feedback on your performance to assess how you got on.
Here’s what some of our Students said about their work placements:
"Whole experience of working with children
has made me sure that this is what I want to do."
"I was accepted and my disability, by the people
I worked with and I learned a lot about myself."
"I loved it, the variety of tasks that I undertook, I learned
a lot about what different people do in the workplace."
Other work-related schemes and benefits
There are many other schemes and benefits available to support people with disabilities going into work. Our World of Work team can help you find the information you need, so you can make an informed decision about getting a job after College – if that’s your plan.
If you are an employer and would like to talk to our World of Work team about offering one of our students a placement, please contact them on 01420 547 409 or email worldofwork@treloar.org.uk.
