Alton College Partnership
Treloar's has a successful and long-established partnership with Alton College and is unique in the offer of its Level 2 and A Level studies. We are able to offer both in-house A-Levels in some of our vocational subjects as well as fully integrated support to attend mainstream education at Alton College. Students will be required to meet the standard entrance requirements for such courses, normally five or more GCSEs (or equivalent) at C Grade or better for an Advanced Level course.
This programme area enables students to be taught in an integrated manner in a mainstream college whilst receiving the specialist academic and therapeutic support to maximise success. For more information on Alton College, please visit their website by clicking here.
Treloar's students will normally attend the Treloar's campus for the core of their curriculum which is likely to include therapy, independence skills and enrichment. They will travel to Alton College on our buses and will be supported both in and outside their classes by a team of dedicated Learning Support Assistants who will also carry out any personal care required.
Our partnership approach allows bespoke timetables to be built for students working at Alton College. Some students may choose to study courses both at Treloar's and Alton College, for example combining an A Level subject offered at Alton College with, for example, an A Level in Photography at Treloar's. The focus of this strand is on educational attainment that may lead to further study at university or other forms of higher education, employment or voluntary working.
For students whose intended and likely destination is paid
or unpaid work, we have developed a wide range of internal and external work
placement opportunities. Students are assessed and enabled to access these with
the appropriate level of support.
