The sun was shining earlier this month when Aramark made a return visit to Treloar’s as part of their global volunteering activities, which saw more than 200 events taking place around the world in 14 different countries.
The 40 strong group split into four teams and provided a range of activities to benefit the students, all with the aim of getting young people excited by the idea of healthier lifestyles and better nutrition.
There was a range of healthier eating stalls promoting how easy it is to eat well with wraps, smoothies and low-fat (and not so low fat!) cheesecakes, plus a display of fruit and vegetables from around the world which students had to identify. The food technology rooms were transformed into our very own “Ready Steady Cook” kitchens and groups of students worked with professional chefs against the clock to create a healthy snack. Prizes were given to all the students for taking part as well as having the food they made as a snack.
Aramark also wanted to make an impact on our outdoor areas and their staff worked all day to makeover the sensory garden (which they helped to plant up during their visit last year), creating two new planters of herbs for the food tech rooms and painting and decorating the Willow Walk outdoor classroom for all to enjoy.
It was a wonderful day and everyone worked incredibly hard to make it a success. We are incredibly grateful for their on-going support and look forward to welcoming the Aramark team back again in the future.
