CQC has awarded Treloar College an overall rating of “Outstanding” in a report published earlier this year. The report, based on a full inspection in the summer, focused on Treloar’s residential accommodation, healthcare provision and support for students outside their educational curriculum.
Nationally, only 2% of providers are rated as “Outstanding” so this is a tremendous accolade for Treloar’s and comes alongside OFSTED rating all aspects of the educational provision of the College and the residential provision of the School as “Outstanding” earlier this year. CQC inspectors highlighted the outstanding support that students receive at Treloar’s in a wide range of areas and praised the expertise, training and caring approach of the staff: “The service provided by the College was exceptionally well focused on the students. Staff ‘went the extra mile’ for the students… The College made exceptional use of assistive technology to enable students to express their views, to take part in decisions about their care and to maximise their independence. There were excellent relationships between staff and students, with staff putting students at the centre of their care.”
Deborah Ivanova, CQC Deputy Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care, commented in the CQC press release: “Treloar College are providing exceptional care while promoting independence and ensuring each person in their care was living a fulfilled life. What really impressed me was the imaginative use of technology to increase students’ independence and dignity. The college supported students to use technology which removed restrictions on them and increased the activities they were empowered to take part in without any direct assistance from staff. This helped promote independence and meant students could regain control of their lives".
