Students from the Creative and Enterprise Groups at Treloar’s undertook a fundraising challenge for the Alton Food Bank. One group of students decided to plan and hold a cream tea to raise money. The students all worked as a team to plan the event, taking on individual roles including finance manager, facilities planner and advertising manager. The other group of students worked as an enterprise team by selecting recipes, baking cakes and then holding several cake sales to raise money. Both groups then combined the event with their community skills lessons which included buying all the items required and after a successful event which raised almost £200, each member of the team was set the challenge to make shopping lists and purchase food for the Food Bank.
John Jacobs, Alton Food Bank Manager, visited Treloar’s to collect the food the students had purchased. He “was delighted that the students had put in so much thought and effort into this community project and was grateful for the donation of food to the Food Bank. I especially enjoyed the cream teas.”
