Students attend GreenAcres coffee morning

Nov. 14, 2017 Back to news index

On Saturday 4th November three students, Lily, Taite and Kerry braved the rain to attend GreenAcres coffee morning, held in aid of Treloar’s, where they planted some crocuses that had been donated to the memorial site by Haslemere Rotary Club.

Peter Taylor, from GreenAcres, initially made a link between the purple colour of the crocuses and Treloar’s history with polio, and thought it would be a good opportunity to highlight this by getting Treloar’s students to plant the bulbs in its grounds. Although it was a miserable morning, the rain held off for half an hour which meant they were able to plant the crocuses, positioned just inside the site entrance, for everyone to see in the spring.

The girls are already looking forward to returning early next year to see the result of their planting efforts.

All the hard work was rewarded with yummy cake and tea and everyone enjoyed the morning. They have planned some more coffee mornings and a Service of Remembrance on 17th December - please visit their website for more details - all proceeds will come to Treloar's.

Thank you to GreenAcres for their support and we look forward to working with them in the future.
