Infected Blood Inquiry
April 30, 2019 / 11:41 am
We are aware that the Infected Blood Inquiry starts today and that a significant number of our students who had haemophilia were given plasma concentrates by the NHS which was contaminated with HIV or hepatitis. Although no one has at any point suggested that Treloar’s was at fault, it is a tragic part of our past. It was, and still is, a very difficult time for our affected alumni, their families and staff who were here at the point.
The haemophilia centre at Treloar’s was operated by the NHS. None of those affected blame Treloar’s and, in fact, Treloar’s was regarded as a ‘sanctuary’ which gave good education and a positive start in life for so many.
Treloar’s has always aimed to be fully supportive of our students and to do what is best for them. We wish all of those impacted by this experience success with their campaign.
