Three college students - Alex C, Paul T and Joel P and two School students - Connor B and Cameron C (all of whom are avid petrol heads) have completed a 3 day work experience placement at BMW’s head office in Farnborough. This placement was organised by Treloar’s staff members Maria Sherwood and Sarah Nagle in collaboration with Whizz Kidz.

The students had the opportunity to learn about and be involved in different parts of the organisation such as Strategy, Sales, Marketing, After Sales, HR, Corporate Communications, product and MINI. One of the tasks was to design an advertisement for the new BMW i8 alongside a graphic designer after viewing the new model. BMW put an incredible amount of effort into this placement, ensuring the students had an all-round experience of the organisation. This was meticulously planned by Gina Finn and Catherine Ghassoub from BMW and involved representatives from all the above mentioned departments.

An exciting task that the students completed was to create a design for the roof of a new mini. This will be judged and the winning design will be transformed onto the Director’s car roof for 9 months! The students also met Andy Priaulx MBE, three times World Touring Car Championship champion. Connor B described the experience as follows: “I really enjoyed the cars and it was an amazing placement which I would recommend to others. I give it 10 out of 10”.

Treloar’s arealways looking for new employers to offer work experience placements to our students. Please contact Maria Sherwood, School & College Transition, Work Experience and EHCP Lead on for further information.
