Nine students from Treloar School & College competed in the Heathcoat Cup Boccia Competition at Surrey Sports Park, Guildford, on 15 January.
Similar to boules; boccia is a tactical game of accuracy and skill. It requires muscle control and concentration as well as strong nerves, and can be played by teams, pairs or individuals. Find out more about boccia here.
In the BC2 classification, Peter played really well and finished the competition in gold medal position.
In the BC3 classification, Treloar’s had 5 athletes competing. Sophie finished in 9th position, Ted finished just outside the medals in 4th, Jamie won the bronze, Josh silver and Dan finished top of the pile in gold medal position.
Charlie finished in bronze medal place in the BC4s as did Andre in the BC5s with Nigarish just behind him in 5th place.
Peter, Dan, Josh and Jamie have all made it to the Heathcoat Cup Finals which will be held later this year.
Coming up is the Heathcoat Cup Hatfield where we have another 2 students, Cameron and William, competing for a place in the finals. We wish them all the very best of luck in this competition and will let you know how they get on.
This competition was also the first team outing for the new Team Treloar kit, very kindly sponsored by Independent Living Solutions. ILS donated the money to buy the new kit and we hope you agree it looked great at the on the court! We would like to thank ILS for their generous support.
