Treloar College’s annual arts and media exhibition was held in the Jowett Centre, the college’s purpose built exhibition space in July. Entitled “Explore your mind” the exhibition invited people to do just that with a variety of thought-provoking photographs, artworks and video installations on display.
Treloar’s Principal, Martin Ingram, who gave the welcome speech at the event, was very proud of the students’ accomplishments: “The quality of the work this year was exceptional. More than twenty students exhibited including six who were shortlisted for the national Unique Arts Awards 2017. Art, photography and media are outstanding at Treloar’s and I am really proud of the students and the staff who have worked so very hard to make the exhibition such a success.”
Comments written in the exhibition guest book were unanimously positive and echoed the sentiment expressed by Mr. Ingram. One admiring visitor wrote: “What an amazing exhibition; ‘well done’ doesn’t convey just how marvellous the work is” whilst another said: “Having been to several private views at Treloar College over the years, the standard appears to be better with every passing year – fantastic!”
As well as contributing to group exhibitions, students are also encouraged to organise their own solo exhibitions in the Jowett Centre as doing so gives them valuable insight into the various stages involved in hosting an exhibition, from conception to execution. The next student exhibition at Treloar’s will be a solo exhibition of photographs by College student Eoin from 30th November 2017. Like all exhibitions at Treloar’s, Eoin’s will be open to all and free to enter.
Details of all forthcoming exhibitions at Treloar’s can be found on our website If you are a local artist interested in exhibiting at Treloar’s, the Jowett Centre Manager, Fran Light, would love to hear from you and can be contacted by phone on 01420 547 400.
