PE – Pathway to Further Education
Students have one PE lesson per week and a swimming lesson once a week, where they will develop water confidence, gain independence and learn swimming techniques.
During PE lessons, each half term students will take part in a rolling programme as described below. Students will become familiar with the structure of the PE lessons through signs and symbols.
Week 1 – Sensory Circuit
Week 2 – Parachute Games/ Playground Games
Week 3 – Treasure Hunt
Week 4 – Sensory Circuit
Week 5 – Massage
Week 6 – Games
Week 7 – Movement and Colour
PE lesson will focus on developing students’ intellectual capacity, interaction, independence, communication, physical control, sensory skills and creativity.
During swimming lessons, students will take part in a similar structure of lesson with a clear beginning and end. They will then take part in a swimming lesson where they develop skills and understanding in different aspects of swimming, gaining independence, technique and survival skills, alongside some more sensory activities.
Students have one lesson per week with opportunities for extracurricular sport.
