PSHE – Key Stage 3
KS3 follow a 3 year rolling programme, currently expected to be as follows:
2018/2019:
- (Autumn) Personal Safety – social media, online safety, being a digital citizen, cyberbullying, British Values, safety at home, road safety, getting help & safeguarding
- (Spring) Sex and Relationship Education – boys & girls, puberty & periods, staying safe (the underwear rule), personal hygiene and teenage troubles
- (Summer) Healthy Living – what is health, healthy eating, healthy living, dealing with problems (NHS)
2019/2020:
- (Autumn) Financial Capability – covering cyberbullying, use of social media, British Values recap, e-safety, brand awareness and advertising, buying online (including price comparisons), scams and fakes, marketing
- (Spring) Normalising Disability – what is normal – what is disability, medical and social justice models of disability, specialist equipment, describing themselves, their disabilities and difficulties, writing a personal profile, celebrating disability
- (Summer) Drugs Education – what are drugs?, smoking, alcohol, caffeine and medicines, evaluating risk and peer pressure
2020/2021:
- (Autumn) Personal Strengths and Mental Health – Self-Evaluation, Coping with criticism, Self-Esteem, Mental & Emotional Health, Healthy and Unhealthy Coping Strategies
- (Spring) Citizenship – rights and responsibilities, critical thinking, careers, stereotyping, communities, politics
- (Summer) Relationships – feelings and emotions, coping with stress, families, friends, relationships, staying safe
