ICT Key Stage 4 - Functional Skills in ICT (Entry 1, 2, 3)

The OCR Functional Skills qualifications in ICT at Entry level is suitable for both young people and mature learners who wish to be recognised for their achievement of a wide range of practical ICT skills for use in every day life. The qualification is also suitable for those preparing to progress to level 1 Functional Skills ICT qualifications. The OCR Functional Skills qualifications in ICT at Entry level aim to:

  • Provide accreditation of achievements of a range of Information and Communication Technology skills in real life settings so that learners can use ICT skills in a functional way throughout life
  • Provide a flexible assessment structure that can be adapted to meet the needs of individual learners
  • Provide a progression route to achievement at higher levels.
The OCR Functional Skills qualification in ICT at Entry level contains three sub levels: Entry 1, Entry 2 and Entry 3. Assessment material is available for Entry 1, Entry 2 and Entry 3. Learners need to complete one of the sub levels to achieve an Entry level qualification.

The course is divided into 3 sections:

  • Using ICT (20-30%)
  • Finding and Selecting Information (10-20%)
  • Developing, presenting and communicating information (50-70%)
In addition, students will be taught to use ICT effectively to support their learning in other subjects, with a focus on e-Safety, presentation skills, Internet skills, and e-mail skills.
