It’s exam results season across the country, a time of anticipation and excitement for many. At Treloar’s we celebrate success in all its forms. Our mission is to prepare students for life beyond college by providing the support, education, and opportunities they need to achieve their goals and work towards greater independence.
One of the unique strengths of Treloar’s is our partnership with HSDC Alton College, which allows our students with physical disabilities to pursue Level 2 and 3 qualifications and progress in their education journey. Through this collaboration, students study alongside their non-disabled peers at HSDC Alton while continuing to receive the specialist care and therapy support provided by Treloar’s. This inclusive and tailored approach ensures that every student has equity of access to education.
This year, we are thrilled to share the success stories of two outstanding students on this pathway:
Sophie achieved three A* grades and will be going on to study Accounting and Finance at the University of Sussex.
Freya will be going on to study Creative Writing and English at the University of Chichester having not expected to be able to go into higher education when joining Treloar’s.
Ben Bastin, Head of College said:
“Today, as we celebrate the exam results received last week and today, there is a real sense of pride. We want to congratulate everyone on their achievements across all levels. Their hard work and determination have truly paid off, enabling them to reach their chosen destinations or secured places on their chosen courses and next steps.
We are delighted that every Treloar College student who aspired to go to university has secured their place and will embark on the next stage of their journey in the Autumn. This is a significant accomplishment, especially given the extra barriers that disabled students face to access higher education. Our students have not only secured their grades and earned their places, they’ve negotiated their accommodation needs, support, and access. They have worked incredibly hard to achieve their aspirations, and we are proud to see them take this important step.
At Treloar’s we recognise that achievement comes in many forms. We want to champion the achievement of all our students, whether their next steps involve university, greater independence, higher level study or employment. Each journey is unique and each achievement a cause for celebration. We have no doubt that all our students will continue to achieve great things and will be a fantastic contribution to their communities.”
