The Friends of Treloar’s Plant Sale took place on Saturday 10 May 2025, with the Outdoor Learning Centre brimming with hundreds of colourful plants. Visitors came to Treloar’s to purchase specially selected plants to brighten up their gardens, whilst also raising money for the students of Treloar’s.
Thanks to the dedication of the Friends of Treloar’s, the Outdoor Learning Centre was bursting with vibrant reds, purples, and pinks as flowers bloomed in full display. Phoenix Perennial Plants contributed a stunning selection of their own items, expanding the impressive variety of plants available for purchase. Local gardeners from across Alton also showed their support by donating homegrown or propagated plants from their own gardens. Cove Brass band played well-known tracks to the visitors, bringing a feeling of joy and a welcoming atmosphere as visitors perused the plants and look around the greenhouse.
Treloar’s students had worked hard to produce a wonderful variety of gifts and cards, including bug hotels and teacup bird feeders! The students were there to sell their handmade gifts, talking to visitors and seeing their items find happy homes. Local produce and handmade treats were also available, allowing visitors to purchase a treat to enjoy at home.
Throughout the event, you could hear laughter and a ‘hum’ of voices as visitors debated on which plants to purchase and where in the garden they would go. Within the first hour of the event, around 240 visitors had walked in through the doors, and over 500 visitors came to the event in total. Seeing so many people turn up to the Plant Sale was heart-warming, and showed how much of a community surrounds Treloar’s and the work we do. New and familiar faces alike said ‘hello’, engaged in conversation with each other and both purchased plants and generously donated to the tea and cake stall. Throughout the event, it was lovely to see the Outdoor Learning Centre so busy, and full of smiling faces. We are thankful for everyone who visited the Friends of Treloar’s Plant Sale and thrilled by the overwhelming community who came together to raise over £7,440 for our students. This wonderful amount will help us on our mission to support our students and provide them with vital care, therapy and education.
The event was an amazing success, and we are thankful for Phoenix Perennial Plants and Cove Brass for joining us, Tozer Seeds for the amazing donated plants and a massive thank you to the Friends of Treloar’s and Iris Lynch for their hard work.
We hope those who attended the event enjoyed it, taking home some lovely new plants. We hope to see everyone again next year.
