Together with this hot and sunny weather came prom season—one of the highlights of the summer term and a much-anticipated celebration marking the final weeks of the academic year for school and college students alike. At Treloar School and College, proms are more than just a party—they’re a symbol of achievement, community and shared joy.

Every school and college event relies on contributions from a wide range of departments, but when it comes to proms, there is an extra layer of care. For many students, this is one of the most memorable evenings of their year—and they want to feel truly special. Making that happen requires a huge collaborative effort from every corner of the campus.

From the Catering Team preparing delicious meals to therapists and dietitians ensuring comfort and health, everyone plays a part. Student support assistants, house staff, teachers, and countless other members of staff, including families, work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the evening is not just smooth, but spectacular. It’s a team effort.

Flossie Bennett, tutor at Treloar's, said:

"College Prom is organised by myself and a prom committee of students. It is their prom so only fitting that they choose everything they would like. The Catering Team offers a selection of menus and the committee choose which they would like; this year they chose tapas theme. The committee also helps to organise the many aspects of the prom from designing the Prom ticket to colour schemes."

Elizabeth Laney, Team Leader Gloucester House, said:

"The School Prom this year had the theme of pink and white, with an Italian themed menu all chosen by the students. It was a magical evening enjoyed by the students and staff, all the hard work that goes into the preparation by everyone was truly worth it, hearing the laughter, seeing the dancing, all to some wonderful entertainment, this is truly a highlight in the school calendar."

This year’s prom preparations kicked off mid-afternoon. Students returned to their residential houses to begin getting ready for the big night—a transformation made possible by the huge efforts of Treloar’s dedicated house staff. For these 2 nights each year, they become much more than students support assistants: they’re make-up artists, hairstylists, personal shoppers, and wardrobe consultants, making sure every student shines in their own way.

There’s a unique kind of magic in seeing the students’ faces light up as they step out in their prom outfits, surrounded by their peers, families and the staff who helped make it all happen. It’s a testament to the sense of community that defines Treloar’s—one where every student is celebrated for who they are, and supported to be their very best.

As the music played and the sun set on another unforgettable prom season, it was clear: at Treloar’s, prom is about more than glitz and glamour. It’s about community, care and the joy of shared success.
