The event provided a warm, inclusive space where students across local primary and secondary schools could perform for each other and celebrate creativity through dance, poetry, music and drama.
A special thank you goes to the event’s hosts, award-winning double act and local stars Luke and Elliott, who brought enthusiasm and humour to the day, ensuring everyone felt welcome and supported.
Treloar school performed in both morning and afternoon programmes with students performing The Kingdom of Unspoken Words, designing costumes, creating props and working together to bring the piece to life. Their choreography explored the power of communication in all its forms, reflecting their emotions, ideas and aspirations.
Our morning programme:
- Bentley Primary School performed Friend Like Me from Aladdin, combining dance and gymnastics
- St Mary’s CofE Primary School danced to Growing on Me by The Darkness, with each pupil bringing their own unique expression to the choreography.
- Binsted Primary School shared a reflective selection of poetry readings
- The Butts Primary School introduced the audience to boom whackers with performances of A sky full of stars and Dance monkey.
Our afternoon programme:
- Andrews’ Endowed Primary School Choir sang songs about friendship
- Eggars School Year 11 Drama students performed a piece using puppets made from upcycled fabrics to tell a story about inclusion and to challenge gender and disability stereotypes.
- Anstey Junior School Choir performed Naughty from the musical Matilda.
This was a spectacular inclusive event that brought together a community of students across Alton to share their interests and passions and we hope to host the event again next year.
Treloar’s would like to thank all the schools, staff and backstage crew who helped make this wonderful community arts event such a success. The showcase was a fantastic celebration of creativity, inclusion and the power of the arts to bring people together.
