Patrons and Supporters Day

Fundraising

Treloar’s was delighted to welcome a group of long-standing Patrons and Supporters for a morning of talks, tours and student-led activities.

At Treloar’s, learning doesn’t just happen in classrooms. Meeting new people, hearing different life experiences and trying new activities are all important parts of our curriculum, helping students build confidence, communication skills and aspirations for the future.

Our recent Patrons and Supporters Day was a great example of this in action. This special day was a chance for us to share updates with this important group of people about the impact they make, as well as create more opportunities for our students on the day.

The morning began with College students Amy and Angel welcoming guests alongside the fundraising team. Supporting events like this gives students the chance to develop important life skills while representing Treloar’s and meeting new people.

Guests then heard from Treloar’s Patron, Tom Yendell OBE, who shared his personal journey from student to successful artist. Tom spoke about discovering his passion for creativity during his time at Treloar’s and reflected on the teachers, experiences and life skills that helped shape his future.

A particular highlight of the day was a fencing session led by Viv Mills, former Team GB Para Fencing champion and founder of The Sabre Trust. Students learned about the different disciplines of fencing before having the opportunity to try the sport themselves using adapted equipment. One student used their toes to grip the weapon, showing remarkable determination and adaptability.

Experiences like these are an important part of life at Treloar’s. Whether visitors are sharing their stories, introducing students to new activities or simply taking the time to listen, they help bring learning to life in ways that leave a lasting impact.

A huge thank you to all our Patrons and supporters who help create opportunities for our students to learn, grow and thrive every day.
