Why we need your help
Gloucester House provides essential space for young people to live during term time and learn vital skills, but after 40 years, it urgently needs updating.
"For our students staying in Gloucester House, it’s more than a place to live. It’s a place for finding friendships, discovering independence and building confidence. It’s home."
We’re raising £882,000 to transform the Cotswold Wing of Gloucester House into a modern, accessible, and supportive space designed to remove barriers and create more opportunities for young people. We’re committed to making our campus more sustainable so we are fundraising to install solar panels in all new building projects.
"My child is now developing socially with peers and learning to do things in a group for the first time."
Parent of a Gloucester House resident
Gloucester House is a vital facility for students, but its outdated design makes daily life more complex:
• Bedrooms are too small for modern wheelchairs and essential medical equipment
• Shared bathrooms are far from bedrooms, complicating personal care
• Multiple staff are often needed in cramped spaces
These limitations prevent Gloucester House from being the supportive space our students deserve.
Our vision for the Cotswold Wing of Gloucester House
We will create:
Larger bedrooms with space for equipment and personalisation
Accessible ensuite or Jack and Jill bathrooms
Improved ceiling hoist systems linking bedrooms and bathrooms
Wider door frames for easy movement of beds and wheelchairs
Improved communal area for socialising and making friendships
This transformation will create a modern, accessible, and supportive environment that removes barriers and opens up new opportunities for young people at Treloar’s. By redeveloping the outdated wing, we will provide students with the privacy, facilities, and specialist adaptations they need to thrive, while promoting dignity, independence and well-being.
Be part of a future without limits
A gift today will help create an environment that supports every student to make the most of their time at Treloar’s. The redesigned space will enable students to build communication, social, vocational, and independent living skills, preparing them for adulthood and active participation in society.
Disabled students will benefit from an improved quality of life, greater access to education, and increased confidence in achieving their goals. Families will also benefit, as enhanced respite provision will help parents and carers better manage their caring responsibilities and will contribute to improved outcomes for siblings.
