On the job training
Turlough joined us as a Student Support Assistant. Since then he’s progressed to a qualified teacher with the Treloar’s Talent Management Scheme.

Opportunities to progress
Meet Lamin! He’s a pretty special guy around Treloar’s. He joined from Gambia 16 years ago as a volunteer, he’s now progressed to a Team Leader and hasn’t looked back since! After completing the training to be a volunteer, he stayed another year before applying for a position as a student support assistant. It’s the ‘best most rewarding organisation, the students are the most amazing individuals you could meet’.

In this profile Anji describes how her role as a student support assistant at Treloar’s has evolved and developed over 20 years. Anji had never done any care work before she came to Treloar’s, but she’s developed her skills over time. The flexible hours have worked with her family commitments, and she’s enjoyed the training she’s completed to support the students, ‘everyday you’re learning’. But what she enjoys most about her role is that ‘every day is a different day and I love that’.
