How your support helps

With your support we can unlock our students’ future

For the students at Treloar’s, severe physical disability means that everyday life is full of challenges both in the classroom and in daily living. This is why Treloar’s can’t be just about education – it is about all types of learning.

It’s about giving disabled young people opportunities they wouldn’t get elsewhere and building their confidence so they can make the most of what life has to offer. And with that confidence comes achievement, which is something that we are very proud of.

For over 110 years we’ve been working with each student to provide life enhancing skills and equipment that unlocks their potential and gives them a chance at a more independent life.

Your support makes such a difference

Although our students receive baseline funding from local authorities, we must raise around £2 million every year to continue to meet all their needs and to provide a first class service and education to our young people.

It is your donations that allow us to achieve this and your money  is used to support our students in many different ways.  Find out more on the links below.

About our students

98% of our students are wheelchair users

80% have speech, language & communication challenges

Our Speech and Language Therapy team work with our students on an individual, long-term basis to find a communication method that works for them. This ranges from trialling simple symbol cards or communication books to using computer programmes or hi-tech eye-gaze technology, much of which is supported by fundraising

38% have a visual impairment

Donations support the post of Visual Impairment Adviser, ensuring our students’ visual impairment needs are correctly assessed and then supported so they can access their education and achieve independence, right here on site
