All of our students have the potential to need support to monitor, maintain and improve their health, and our aim is to enable education, and keep them safe. We individualise our care and support so that we meet the needs of individual students and will work with them to maximise their ability to take control of their own health.

COVID-19 vaccinations for students

Our therapists have created communication tools to support our students who are being offered COVID-19 vaccinations. Pictures and symbols help to guide students and show them what to expect when they take part in COVID-19 vaccinations.  The  symbolised resources support students’ understanding about having the COVID-19 vaccine.

The ‘easy read’ version focuses on the reasons for the vaccine programme, decision making around this and what will happen at the time of the vaccine.

The second version is a symbolised ‘story’  – this has more symbols and less text, is worded in the first person, and focuses more on the reasons for having a vaccine and what will happen on the day and after having the vaccine.
