Admissions
Unfortunately due to the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic we are unable to facilitate Open Days and external visits to the site. We are currently reviewing other potential options and will be in touch with you as soon as we are in a position to. Please do continue to contact us at admissions@treloar.org.uk if you would like to register your interest.
The best way to see what we do is to come and visit us and meet our students and staff. We have Open Days scheduled throughout the year which provide the opportunity to have a tour around our site and meet with some of our specialist teams. Pre-booking is mandatory. To book your place, or speak to someone, please contact us on 01420 547747 or email admissions@treloar.org.uk
Once you have either attended an Open Day or had a conversation with a member from our Admissions Team and you feel that Treloar’s may be an appropriate placement for your child or young person please complete an Application Form and send to admissions@treloar.co.uk along with an up-to-date Education, Health and Care Plan and recent educational reports plus any therapy and/or medical reports.
Our Admissions Panel meet weekly to review all applications and will make a decision as to whether we feel that we can progress an application through to the initial assessment stage. In some instances we may feel it more appropriate to conduct a school or home visit ahead of an assessment at Treloar’s. Our Admissions Team will keep you fully informed through each step of the process.
After the initial assessment our Admissions Panel will meet again to discuss and decide whether we can progress to the second stage of assessment; for those students requesting a residential package the second assessment will involve an overnight stay on one of our Residential Houses.
We recognise that all young people have many differing abilities and face different challenges; as such when we are considering an admission we use the following criteria:
- Does the child or young person have a physical disability as their primary need?
- Can we provide an appropriate educational curriculum?
- Can we ensure the safety of the child or young person and that of our current cohort of students?
- Do we have an appropriate peer group?
- Do we feel that Treloar’s is the appropriate environment/placement for the young person?
If we do offer a placement to your child or young person the next steps would be for us to arrange a fee, using the information gathered at assessment, and apply for funding. This is generally through your Local Authority.
Treloar’s is a non-maintained specialist School and College. Every one of our student’s fees are different and entirely bespoke, depending on the level of staffing support required. Fees and staffing support are reviewed annually, in line with an Annual Review, and more frequently if there is a change in support requirements.
For any questions you have about the application process, or to speak to a member of our team, please contact us on 01420 547747 or email admissions@treloar.org.uk.
