Award for talented Treloar’s students
We’re delighted to have long standing support from the Livery Movement in London. With grants to provide a whole host of activities, educational opportunities and specialist equipment they really make a difference at Treloar’s.
Each grant helps to develop our students; their skills, confidence and employability. Importantly they helps to raise awareness in The City of the contribution of our young people.
Recently our students took part in the Furniture Makers Company School Design Award and two students’ skills shone through to win the award!
Setting the challenge
For their AQA Coursework, one of our Key Stage 4 classes were tasked with designing a tea tray. The most popular design amongst students, staff, and visitors would win!
Harrison and Daisy were thrilled that their designs were chosen and to be presented with certificates and a beautiful book on the Identification and Use of Wood.
The designs
Daisy’s said she was “very excited about winning” with her design featuring a car shaped handle and hills going along the side for the car to drive.
Harrison’s design has a teapot shaped handle with sake cups along the side, he said “it’s really good to win and the book is great”.
Soon after the class got busy making their designs using wood, supported by Andras our Design and Technology Tutor. He said;
“Thank you very much for supporting our students with your Furniture Makers Company School Design Award. The prize winners Daisy and Harrison were really happy and proud for receiving their beautiful books and certificates.”
We’re grateful for the support of all our donors – thank you for enabling our students to reach their potential.
