Treloar’s offers Covid-19 communication resources for students with communication and learning disabilities
As students across the country adjust to regular COVID -19 testing, our students are no exception.
This term, we are busy teaching our students about the need for testing. With the support of our on-site Health Centre and GP, vaccinations are also taking place this week for some of our students.
Our Speech & Language Therapy team have created visual support resources, using Picture Communication Symbols, for students who are being offered COVID- 19 vaccinations and who are being tested regularly.
Clear, simple language, with pictures and symbols help to guide them and demonstrate what to expect.
These visual support resources have been circulated widely with the team and we are now pleased to offer these resources freely to all our families and the wider community who many find them useful.
Currently, you will find an ‘easy read’ resource which focuses on the reasons for the vaccine programme, decision making around this and what will happen at the time of the vaccine. You can download this by clicking here.
There is also a second resource with more symbols and less text, which is worded in the first person and helps to talk students through the reasons for having a vaccine and what will happen on the day and after having the vaccine. Download this by clicking here.
We will soon be including resources that we use to support students with regular COVID-19 testing.
