Disability Sports Day 2019
On Wednesday 6 November 2019, we hosted Disability Sports Day. Disability Sports Day is an annual event that allows local mainstream school students and staff the opportunity to experience and gain more understanding of a range of disability sports.
We welcomed over 40 young people to this year’s Disability Sports Day from 4 local mainstream schools; Amery Hill, Eggar’s, Alton School and Perins.
Sports Leaders students from Treloar College & School showed the groups around & demonstrated the sports to their peers.
The sports on offer were boccia, table cricket, wheelchair basketball and swimming. Treloar PE staff led these sessions and we were also joined by volunteer coaches from Hampshire Harriers Wheelchair Basketball team.
It was a very successful day with all of the young people getting involved and enjoying the different sports that they otherwise wouldn’t have had the opportunity to try.
