Family Therapy
Beverley Morris is a qualified systemic family therapist; Elayna Martin and Christina Lydon also have training and experience of systemic family therapy. We recognise how challenging it can be for families with a child with complex disability. Sometimes, some sessions with parents and/or siblings can allow space to think about the impact on family dynamics and strategies for change that not only support the family as a whole but can have a very direct impact on the young person studying at Treloar’s. This can be face to face or on the telephone for parents. It might include an element of psychoeducational work to try to understand the impact of a young person’s history and family context to understand behaviours and psychological impact, and then work on appropriate strategies. We would like to be able to offer 6 families, up to 6 sessions, over the course of a year.
