Giving Tuesday: Events and Third Party
Throughout the year we put on a whole host of events and activities to raise vital funds for our students. These range from The Treloar’s Gala Dinner; our black-tie event that takes place at Mansion House in London and is attended by the Lord Mayor of London to our Celebrity Football Match that has just recently taken place at Eastleigh Football Club. All of these events are planned and delivered by our Fundraising Team and help to raise funds towards our £2million target.
Outside of our fundraising team, we also have many supporters that organise events of their own to raise funds for Treloar’s. Over the last year, we have seen our supporters taking on sponsored walks, arranging tea parties, organising vinyl record sales and even climbing the O2 Arena in London! Tamzin, Sara and Sandra took on the challenge in October 2021 and have told us about their experience below:
After raising money through ‘Walk for Treloar’s I felt that it would be great to arrange a personal challenge that could raise money in aid of Treloar’s via sponsorship at the same time. Climbing the O2 dome was always something I had aspired to do and my colleagues in the school office, Sara and Sandra thought it would be fun to do it with me. With a date in October 2021 booked, we set up our Just Giving page and decided it would be perfect to raise money to buy materials to support the students to plant and grow various plants throughout the year, whilst using the newly completed Outdoor Learning Centre. Treloar’s had a target of £1,000 to buy plants – we weren’t sure if we’d be able to raise this amount but thought that £500 would be a great target to contribute towards it. We arrived on the day and were faced with very windy and wet conditions but, luckily were given the go ahead at our safety briefing and started the climb.
Sara said:
It was fantastic to raise money for Treloars as the students are inspirational young people who overcome so many challenges to achieve so much.
Sandra added:
It felt a bit unnerving to start but the focus was on the climb and the views were amazing – we felt exhilarated at the end and happy to have completed the climb and raised the money.
I don’t think it is something any of us will forget and with fantastic support and generosity from our colleagues, family and friends our total kept rising and our grand total raised exceeded £1500 which was amazing, partially with the help of one of our sponsor’s company match funding policy.
It really is easy to gain a sense of achievement by fulfilling an ambition no matter how big or small whilst also raising funds for Treloar’s!’
