Grant makers award vital equipment to Treloar’s
We’re delighted to receive funding from The Hospital Saturday Fund
for a new Acheeva Bed!
The Acheeva Bed is designed to help our students who need extra posture support, who have limited options other than their wheelchair for positioning or who are recovering from surgery.
Why is the equipment so important?
Crucially, having this new Acheeva Bed has allowed many more of our students to spend time in the classroom – without disruption to their education. The Acheeva Bed can help them live with greater independence and dignity.
Amy, pictured, has been using the Acheeva Bed regularly as it allows her to change position easily. She has limited mobility so this is one of only two pieces of equipment she’s able to use apart from her wheelchair.
It is important Amy can spend time out of her chair to prevent physical discomfort.
Amy is very happy in the Acheeva Bed as she can enjoy different learning experiences, view points and access to different activities in her classroom.
When we visited, Amy and her keyworker were enjoying getting stuck into some art work together – here she is marbling from the comfort of the Bed!
With your support
Without this equipment our students would need more time out of the classroom and so this makes a big difference to them. Not just their education, but their physical comfort and socialisation too – all very important in teenage years.
Thank you to our donors and our supporters who make these things possible!
