How you can help make a difference – David’s story
At Treloar’s, we offer outstanding teaching, learning, professional care, therapy, advice and guidance so that every individual can achieve and work towards a future that is as independent as possible. Treloar School and Treloar College offer around 170 students, aged 5 to 25 years, a specialist environment where learning takes place alongside therapy and care.
Every day, we help young people to reach their full potential. But this can’t be done without help from our supporters.
The story of David, Treloar’s Regular Supporter
There are many ways our supporters can help us raise funds for children and young people at Treloar’s: taking on an active challenge of a lifetime (be it a marathon, sky diving, or a trek amongst others), attending an event, volunteering, playing our TRELOTTERY – the list is endless!
This is how David started his journey with Treloar’s:
I was approached in a supermarket in September 2021 and asked if I would support Treloar’s by taking part in TRELOTTERY. I was provided with a brief (and clear) explanation of the School’s aims and signed up. When I got home, I researched Treloar’s to gain a better understanding of what the School provided, to whom, and with what results. Impressive. I’ve never had any experience of supporting any child or young adult with the types of challenges faced by those who attend Treloar’s, and I decided that supporting Treloar’s was important because it gives so much support in so many different ways to its students, enabling them to achieve as independent a life as possible. I cancelled my participation in TRELOTTERY and became a monthly donor to Treloar’s. In April 2023, I took the opportunity to visit Treloar’s to see at first hand the facilities and find out more about the work done here. If I was impressed by what I found out in 2021, that was nothing compared to the feelings I had when I left Treloar’s. It’s an amazing, happy place, and it’s obvious that it plays an essential role in these young people’s lives, and I’m pleased that my (now increased) monthly donation is helping to support them.
Without people like David, we cannot provide the support Treloar’s students need to achieve their goals. Our Mission is to enable physically disabled young people to achieve their aspirations, and you can help us do it. If you would like to join David and our other supporters, but you’re unsure where to start, visit this page to find out more about the ways you could help.
