Mansion House Gala Dinner raises over £66,000
It was a great honour for Treloar’s to once again host its annual Gala Dinner at Mansion House on Wednesday, 26th April. Every year, Treloar’s is very kindly gifted the use of Mansion House by the Rt Hon. The Lord Mayor of the City of London.
The evening started with guests enjoying a champagne drinks reception in the splendour of Mansion House, followed by a delicious three course meal, silent and live auctions delivered by Ed Rising, an experienced auctioneer, a raffle and a spectacular live performance of songs from Les Misérables by stars of the West End.
During the evening, guests were treated to a series of three short films about Treloar’s students Reuben, Elin and Alex. There followed an interview with the parents of Treloar’s Primary student, Elin, who shared their experience of the school and their daughter’s journey to increased independence. They spoke of how they had found a community of friends and peers around them at Treloar’s, and the benefits of that support for their family.
Reuben lives in Treloar’s independent living provision on campus. His short film described his journey to take his place at HSDC Alton College, to become a published poet and musician, alongside the politics of having a disability and fighting for the right level of care and support.
Alex is a sixth from student. His short film focused on the multi-disciplinary team of specialists around him and how he has been supported to express himself, learn to communicate and make friends at Treloar’s.
The event, hosted by a comedian and presenter, Tom Deacon, raised over £66,000 which will go towards supporting children and young people at Treloar School and College to live their best lives and reach their potential.
Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s Gala Dinner, donated prizes, and made it such a memorable evening. The evening would have not been possible without the support of the Rt Hon. The Lord Mayor of the City of London, our guests, our event sponsors, the companies who donated auction prizes, our event committee and lastly Reuben, Elin, Alex and their families who shared their stories.
