Plant sale in Outdoor Learning Centre
Students Josh, Rachel and Alex have been busy running a plant sale in the Outdoor Learning Centre this month. They were selling plants which had been donated and also those which they have grown themselves.
The sale was full of plants like lavender, courgettes, tomatoes, broccoli, runner beans and beautiful flowers. The school class has been growing all these plants as part of their weekly options time – encapsulating horticulture and wellbeing. The class teacher, Justine James, said: “It’s phenomenal what has been grown over the last few months. All of the school and college classes at Treloar’s have been in the Centre growing plants. Not only that, but we really have been able to incorporate all sorts of curriculum learning into these activities such as English and Maths. It really has been lovely to see and be part of.”
The students have also been updating some planters around the site with the things that they have grown. Josh has been the chief waterer. He said: “I’ve enjoyed planting.” Rachel has been busy potting on the small plants to help them grow – she said that she enjoys coming to the greenhouse.
Well done to Josh, Rachel and Alex for such a fabulous plant sale – the proceeds of which will go towards supporting Treloar’s.
