Resources to support students to reflect on and understand the death of Queen Elizabeth II
As a School and College we’re deeply saddened at the death of Her Majesty The Queen.
In School assembly last week, Head of School, Lisa Bond used a simple symbolised story to support our students to reflect on the news. We hope that parents and carers might find it useful.
We are sharing two versions of information stories, which can be used alongside TV coverage. One is an ‘Easy Read’ story and the other is a simple symbolised explanation. These can be used alongside other information that is available including TV coverage.
These materials were prepared using Boardmaker software and Picture Communication Symbols by Michelle who is one of our Communication Support Specialist and Lead Makaton Tutor and other members of our Speech and Language Therapy department. Their mission is to help all our students optimise their communication abilities to access education, build social relationships and develop independence skills.
On behalf of everyone at Treloar’s, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Royal Family and to our Royal Patron HRH The Countess of Wessex. During this period of mourning our thoughts remain with the Royal Family.
