Royal Patron shares moment of joy with Treloar’s students
We were delighted to have our Royal Patron, HRH the Countess of Wessex GCVO join our students to mark International Happiness Day.
During our Friday Live assembly, led by our Director of Music and attended by our CEO, Principal and Chaplain, our students had the exciting opportunity to talk with Her Royal Highness about what makes them happy.
Our students are looking forward to life without lockdown restrictions, which can disproportionately impact on people with disabilities. Her Royal Highness encouraged our students to talk about their feelings and acknowledge that it’s okay not to be okay sometimes – a very important message for us all. We ended the event on a high note with Her Royal Highness joining in our Sing It Sign It Makaton version of This Little Light of Mine.
What makes Her Royal Highness Happy?
Treloar’s student Sally asked Her Royal Highness what makes her happy. She shared her love of spring time, as the ‘colours start to burst out’ and said she is looking forward to spending more time with her family when this is possible. Poignantly this event took place before the passing of HRH Prince Philip The Duke of Edinburgh. Our thoughts remain with The Royal Family as they come to terms with his loss.
A fantastic Royal Patron
Her Royal Highness has been heavily involved with Treloar’s over many years, including opening our Holybourne Campus, Sports Facilities, our specialist student accommodation and visiting us for many sporting occasions. She is a wonderful ambassador for Treloar students, championing their abilities and ambitions for the future.
Simon Birch our CEO said “We are honoured to have Her Royal Highness’s long standing Patronage. Our students were overjoyed to meet her and have the opportunity to discuss their interests. It means so much to all of us that we can share such a special relationship and enjoy quality time with her. ”
Thank you Your Royal Highness for all you do for the Treloar’s community.
