Royal Visit to Thank Treloar Patrons
HRH The Countess of Wessex GCVO visited Treloar School and College on Thursday 7 th June to attend a thank you ‘brunch’ event for all Treloar’s Patrons.
Our patrons do a wonderful job of supporting and promoting Treloar’s and this brunch event was held to thank them for their work and recognise the difference they make.
Upon arrival The Countess was welcomed formally by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, Mr Nigel Atkinson and Civic dignitaries from Hampshire County Council and East Hampshire District Council. School and College students gave her a real “Treloar welcome”, waving flags and cheering, with some dressing up as princesses in her honour. The Royal party all then proceeded to Treloar’s main hall to meet with our Patrons, Trustees & Governors.
Alistair Mackintosh, Chair of Trustees, lead proceedings, saying in his speech that “the support and commitment of our Patrons is greatly appreciated by all of our students, staff and Trustees at Treloar’s and we wanted to thank them in person for their generosity, kindness and dedication to the charity.”
Her Royal Highness responded: “Treloar’s has an incredible reputation and certainly one for trailblazing. A fantastic charity – I am proud to be a Patron. If it says it is going to do something it most certainly does it. You are surrounded by people who believe that given the opportunity its students can thrive. Thank you for your belief in Treloar’s and for the team effort you so obviously contribute to.”
Her Royal Highness had a tour of the new coach, taking time to get into the drivers’ seat for a while, and then proceeded to meet with guests and students to watch a boccia and curling demonstration . The Countess was invited to take part in a game of Boccia with School student, Phoebe, which was enjoyed by all our guests. Once the Countess had departed, our honoured guests were invited to tour the campus and see the difference their support has made.
It was a lovely day and a wonderful way to say thank you to these special people.
