A warm welcome to Suzanna Hext – our new patron
We are thrilled to announce that Paralympic dressage rider Suzanna Hext has agreed to become a Patron.
Suzanna is a European Gold medallist Para-Dressage rider with her sights set firmly on a medal at the Tokyo Paralympics next year. She was competing at two-star level eventing before an accident riding a young horse at home in 2012 changed her life. After 170 days in hospital and nine operations, Suzanna returned fighting and to become triple European Gold medallist and ended 2017 as Grade 3 world number 1.
Amazingly she also recently classified for Para-Swimming with the aim to compete this year around her riding competitions and commitments, but keeping riding as her main priority. She explained “Swimming gives me the same freedom mentally and physically that being in the saddle does and it is something I am extremely passionate about.”
Suzanna visited Treloar’s in early January and met with students Sophie, Emily and Phoebe who showed her round and asked lots of questions about her dressage career, and her aspirations for the Paralympics in Tokyo 2020.
Suzanna stated “I feel extremely honoured and privileged to be asked to become a Patron of Treloar’s. Treloar’s is the most incredible and truly special place and I am over the moon to have the opportunity to be a part of the fantastic Treloar’s community going forward.”
We very much look forward to working with Suzanna in the future and wish her good luck with her training.
