The Reading Ahead Challenge 2019

Each year Treloar’s takes part in the Reading Ahead Challenge, which is a national event organised by the Reading Agency.  Students had to read/listen to 6 items, which could include books, audiobooks, recipes, listening to class story time or visiting story tellers over a 6 month period recording each item and writing a short review.

This year our numbers were slightly up on last with 87 students finishing the challenge, which was brilliant.  To celebrate the students’ success at completing the challenge we held a celebration event on Monday 8th July with Nick Ash from Scratch Built Productions as our special guest, who brought with him a larger than life character from a popular children’s book.   Standing over 12 feet tall the BFG (Big Friendly Giant) entertained the students while they received their certificates and two lucky winners, Keely and Corey won a £50.00 Amazon voucher each as their names were picked out of the prize draw.
